GLS ART LECTURES
The World of Greg Lewis Studios

In the Book of Genesis, God’s creation story, says that “everything God had created was good”. We share in that creation heritage. We all have been given the innate ability to create. For when we do create, in whatever form, we reflect God’s glory. It is this gift of artistic expression, with all its emotions, reflects that glory. Even the great art periods of Western Civilization, centuries of art, architecture and even music, many artists have reflected their expressions of faith utilizing various forms and art mediums. That cultural heritage continues today leaving a legacy of hope to inspire future generations. For we all live in a visual world where the Church’s art and architecture still generates the outward signs and symbols of God’s creative gifts to help our growth in faith. Each artist has the ability and the courage to produce an inspired subject. From an empty canvas, paper, and various art mediums, even a lump of clay, to an object of interest and beauty. Today, we can all share in God’s creative spirit. I warmly invite you to have eyes to see art all around using its many forms...and to have ears to hear the pleasure of God.

May the Peace of our Creative...our Risen Lord, be with all of you,

Greg J. Lewis, Liturgical Artist

A Sacred Space in the Home | Making it Personal
Guest Speaker Greg J. Lewis, Liturgical Artist

We require much from our community worship spaces. A place of focus, order and prayer, beauty, and security. A sense of holiness, a sense of the sacred, looking to God. This can be true in our living spaces as well. Large or small it can become a personal sign and symbol of our own spiritual identity. Greg's visual
presentation
explores the concepts and possibilities of establishing a sacred space in our homes. A place of order, beauty, focus and prayer. A sense of holiness, looking to God. A personal, private space of your own. From a simple sitting area, garden spot, dresser top, hallway wall, a converted closet, or an entire room. A sacred space for the home allows us outward signs and symbols of our inner faith.

To express your interest in A Sacred Space in the Home presentation, I am happy to accept your positive response. Contact Greg Lewis at 503-348-5176, or by email: greg@greglewisstudios.net for scheduling and honorarium information. You can also go to the GLS Contact Page of this GLS Website.

Art in the Christian Church Seminars
From Genesis to Catacombs, Cathedrals & Beyond

Join us as we journey through 2000 years of Art in the Christian Church. From Genesis to the catacombs of Rome, to the Gothic cathedrals of Europe and beyond. Together we will learn and understand God's signs and symbols that still speak to us. Through an ecumenical series of five (5) richly visual presentations, we will trace the great periods of art and architecture, influencing our Christian worship spaces of today and that have given us purpose and meaning.

"Through God's signs and the Church's symbols, we've only to experience the glories of God that shape our faith. The legacy of an established liturgical calendar has guided the Church for future generations. For the artists and architects who've gone before us, to build and create places and spaces of the spirit, have shown us the way."

Greg J. Lewis, Liturgical Artist & ACC Guest Presenter

Join Greg Lewis, Liturgical Artist & Designer Director in this 5 hour labyrinth art workshop. Explore the spiritual art gifts of the centuries old meditation prayer form. Using several art mediums, together we will create an outward reflection of our inner spiritual journey. The images below show artists enaged in creating their own personal art labyrinth. The Springwater Studio is a ministry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Gresham, Oregon. It was my host organization and offers for your use, a 11 circut outdoor labyrinth pattered after the one within Chartres Cathedral, outside of Paris, France.
